Hello, I am a refugee living in a camp in Samos, Greece. We are living in catastrophic conditions.
I left my country for security reasons; I escaped after receiving torture to a hospital, where I received a surgical procedure due to intestine problems. Right after the procedure, I left the hospital at night in order to go to the neighboring country of Congo, where I was still strongly hurt. I was lucky to meet a lady who was a human right activist: she helped me leave the country. Since the two countries (Congo and home country) work together in collaboration, I was still in danger of being caught by the justice of my country.
I arrived in Turkey which is not a country where asylum is possible: I had no choice but to cross the Aegean Sea. Once in Samos, I was placed in a refugee camp. The situation here is truly very difficult: we sleep in the forest with snakes and large rats, we lack water, and we’re freezing to death.
That is why I beg the EU to help us by granting us the right of asylum. We are suffering and we lack food and water. Thank you.
